Cape Town Infrared
We spent the weekend in Cape Town for a wedding, and I was able to take my camera to Audacia estate for Root44 parkrun, and up Table Mountain on Sunday. Here are some pics.
I'm really happy with how the camera works in the field- it is as easy to use as any other point and shoot.

Debugging
Apart from a few more test shots at Arrowe Park this weekend, I worked on a few of the snags I still have, and have made good progress:

to have unique names so that names are not duplicated from session to session

are rotated to appear upright before saving

Labels
for mode switch

Plugging
in a flash drive to the USB port copies all images and videos to flash drive

Lens
correctly aligned with front face if camera so that photographs line up

Switching
between different camera modes via hardware switch ( TBC 29 September)

cutting plans for case, 3d model for lens pinwheel and camera Python script to
be uploaded to community model sharing websites

Test photos at Arrowe Park
I took my camera down to Arrowe Park this afternoon to get some test photos. The black and white photos are pure infrared, and the colour are 'infrablue'. More about the camera and how I made it here.

OctarinePi free-roaming test images
With a shutter release interfaced over GPIO, and a simple Python script
taking a still photograph every time I press the shutter, I went down to
Arrowe Park to collect some photographs over the weekend. I haven't had a chance to test the battery out adequately yet, but it handled this half-hour trip without any hassle. There is supposedly a GPIO signal that is triggered when the input votlage to the pi drops below 4.something volts- I might be able use this to force a shutdown of the Pi when the battery is on it's way out- will have to test it. All in all, I'm happy with the photos, especially the pano that's now the site banner:

First light
This blog will document the assembly and programming of a near-Infrared camera using the Raspberry Pi and the PinoIR camera module. Above are some photos from the first light session, using the blue filter to cut visible light out of the red and green channels (left) and full-spectrum on the right.
